Instagram Travel Inspiration

As those long summer nights transform into consecutive days of rain, it is safe to say that winter is steadfastly approaching in Paris. The temperatures drops and I find myself planning future destinations in the form of weekend escapes to European cities or longer adventures exploring the unknown. From avid globe trotting foodies to jet-setting couples, Instagram seems to offer no shortage of travel inspiration for vacation planners or those, like me, living vicariously through beautiful photos taken around the world. Despite hailing from various parts of the globe, these Instagrammers share two key factors: a passion for travel and a knack for photography. With hundreds of thousands of followers and photographs that will put any postcard or standard travel photo to shame, get ready because this isn’t your typical vacation slide show. So whether you’re planning an upcoming escape or are simply dreaming of an exotic getaway, let these Instagram explorers offer you a bit of travel inspiration in the meantime.

@Muradosmann : If you’re on Instagram, chances are you’ve already come across this one, but the list wouldn’t be complete without it. The famous series “follow me” shows photographer Murad Osmann being led by his girlfriend Nataly Zakharova through exotic destinations across the globe, from Dubai and India to France and China. The backdrops, outfits, and quality are simply stunning and it should come as no surprise that the number of couples on Instagram emulating these famous photos has increased tenfold. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?

@parisinfourmonths : Meet Carin Olsson, a young Swedish photographer who packed her bags, moved to Paris and never looked back. Documenting her love for the City of Light and travels to distant lands, Carin clearly has a flair for photography and writing (she also has a lifestyle blog). Paris may have its fair share of grey days, but one glance at this account and you will find nothing but bright, whimsical photos of life in Paris. Think pastel macarons, Haussmannian buildings, chic cafés, fashion shoots, and bouquets of flowers. Take a look and you’ll find yourself agreeing with Audrey Hepburn when she famously exclaimed that “Paris is always a good idea”.

@girleatworld : The tagline “eating my way around the world” says it all. This foodie has combined a passion for food and travel into one successful and charming account. From macarons with Sacré Coeur in the background to half eaten bretzels in Berlin, Singapore-based Melissa Hie snaps photos that will leave you hungry for travel.

@kevinruss: Kevin Russ left home over two years ago with an iPhone and a mission to travel across the United States by car and snap some photos along the way. The result? Breathtaking landscapes shot at dusk or dawn that are nothing short of magical. All photos are taken with an iPhone and absolutely zero professional equipment. Inspired to pack up the car and hit the open road? Now you can capture your travels à la Kevin Russ with the “Russ” filter available on the photo app Afterglow!

@passionpassport : Forget one perspective, how about a collective take on travel? This community of avid travelers and photographers, also known as the #PassportExpress, are a group of storytellers offering an almost surreal glimpse of the world. Each photo is accompanied by a quote, an anecdote, or a simple historical fact. Their mission: Inspire others to travel and see the world for themselves.
